The best laid plans of hamsters will often gang awry.. or something.
after the printer drama last night, I thought it would be plain sailing, until the last bit of washing up and my surprisingly powerful tap conspired to create a spectacular indoor water feature as the stream from the tap bounced off the bottom of a mug and straight onto the kitchen floor!
In the end I gave up, ran down to the internet cafe to print the flight confirmation and abandoned all thoughts of moving Maisie to the relative safety of Chichester. Poor thing's parked under a tree in St James' Ave.. thankfullly there aren't quite so many seagulls around this time of years, so she might still have some yellow bits by the time i get home!
Of course, when I got to check in they didn't even look at the sodding e-mail! typical!
So now, as long as I can get myself to the gate, my destiny is in the hands of Emirates. I'm somebody else's problems for the next 18 hours!

Thursday 15th.. last night at home
Gah! I'm an idiot. I've printed everything except the ticket confirmation mail. And my printer's screwed. It just doesn't want to play. At All. I've tried everything to get the sodding thing to work and, frankly, it's fucked.
So I've had a quick panic and now I've calmed down and remembered that there's an internet cafe at Gatwick!
GAH!

A week on Friday...
suddenly doesn't feel very far off..
I've bought my imodium and suncream, I feel like I could recite the Lonely Planet, and my Thai Sim card arrived this morning.
And I just realised how f'in hot it is out there... very glad I've got hotels with pools in Bangkok (flash eh? no "Beach" style fan cubicles for me!..). Also interested to discover that the temperature drops from mid 90s to mid 50s overnight in the North (Bangkok and South it doesn't get any lower than mid 70s).. so perhaps I'd best pack my bedsocks after all!
The "to do" list is getting shorter, and the pile of stuff for packing is getting bigger - despite my best "capsule wardrobe" intentions.
And I'm beginning to freak out a tiny bit about launching myself on a nation where I know precisely one word of the language.. and that's just because it's the name of the local restaurant!
EEEK!
